What an exciting year we had in 2012! Tame The Beast Aromas was born and took on a life of its own! It has been a true blessing.
In May I found myself in a purple tent by the water in the beautiful Mike Wallace Park by the Kingston, WA ferry terminal. What a beautiful place to spend Saturdays, even the rainy and cold ones! I met so many wonderful people from all over the world and made many new friends. I checked off a few items from my list of things I want to do in life. I have always wanted a booth at a Farmer’s Market, check! I have always wanted a store. This was a portable one, a start. Check! My main passion of helping others made it to the public! Check!
On Labor Day weekend, my birthday weekend, I was in Port Gamble with one of my best friends and her daughter to pick up some items they had found at Wish the day before. For some reason my feet took me right by the car and we walked to the other side of the U to the Scale Shack that was empty and for rent! I couldn’t believe it! I had to have it! Thinking that many people would be after this 6x6 commercial space I instantly sent an email and put in a call. Next thing I knew, Tame The Beast Aromas had it’s first retail location! One of the cutest little places I had ever seen. I had a real store! Check! Well, not a normal real store, but one that was perfect for me. Things got a little hectic while trying to establish the new location and still do the Farmer’s Markets along with other events, but it all worked out perfectly!
In November Tame The Beast Aromas was at the NKHS Holiday Fair and in December we were on Bainbridge Island at Hajnalka’s Studio for Christmas In The Country. I felt honored to be a part of both of these amazing events and once again made wonderful new friends! I was also invited to be a guest vendor at Old Navy in Silverdale, Wa. I find it wonderful and amazing that a huge corporation would invite small fry's like Tame The Beast to sell at their store. Of course I took the opportunity and it was a blast! I was invited back and I am hoping to squeeze one more Monday in before opening the big store.
In December I got an email that would change everything. The town manager of Port Gamble emailed to see if I would want to move to Port Gamble. Uh, Yeah! Absolutely! I had instantly fallen in love with the town and all of the wonderful people in it. I never got bored sitting in the Scale Shack. The surroundings were absolutely gorgeous and I was always busy doing something. There wasn’t a chance to get bored. Not to mention there is always something exciting going on in Port Gamble. So I called to see what this email was all about. It turned out one of the houses that I had my eye on was available for rent! Okay, so I really had my eye on the adorable Playhouse with it’s cute little patio and larger scale than my current location, but low and behold I was offered the whole enchilada! The giant red house on the highway and the playhouse! Really!?! I couldn’t believe it. Tame The Beast Aromas in a real location that more than 1 person could visit inside at a time! Heck yes! So, we are currently taking a leap of faith!
December 31 I emptied my adorable little shack and as of January 15 we will be moving Tame The Beast Aromas in to a much larger location with room for workshops and more! Along with the store we are moving ourselves to Port Gamble and will be residing above the store. A lot of change is coming and as scary as it can be it, it just feels right. I could not be more excited!
